Plastazote® and Evazote® foams

Plastazote® and Evazote® foams

Plastazote® and Evazote® are closed-cell and cross-linked polyethylene foam materials.

This foam material is manufactured under high pressure and high temperature in Europe. The material is water-repellent, has a very low water absorption and is also very malleable.

Due to its unique manufacturing process, this foam has a very high degree of fineness and density.

That has led to PE foam often being used when an appealing presentation is desired, for example as a packaging container, case liner, or as a presentation surface. Plastazote® can also be used very well as a seal or for insulation.

Thanks to its good skin comparability and lack of odour, Plastazote® is also very suitable for use in orthopaedic applications.

The hardness or strength of Plastazote® is defined by its so-called volumetric weight and Shore hardness. You receive Plastazote® with a volumetric weight of 15kg/m³ (soft) to 80 kg/m³ (very firm). This corresponds to a Shore hardness of 43° Shore 00 to 85° Shore 00.

Flame-retardant versions of the foam (FR) are also available for special applications.

Furthermore, some types comply with the European (EC) regulations (1935/2004 and 2002/72/EC) on materials and items intended for coming into contact with food, as well as with the FDA regulations (FDA21CFR). You can find more information on this topic here.

The fact that no propellants are used in the production of the material to inflate the foam means that Plastazote® is a very skin-friendly material. Plastazote® is inert, and its closed-cell structure means that impurities cannot be trapped in liquids or in the air. You can find more information on this topic of skin compatibility and applications for the medical sector here and here.
We can manufacture the raw material customised in accordance with your specifications, including in small series or in one-off production.
